School Games Mark - Silver Award

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. This is the first time this school has achieved any of the School Games Mark Awards. Our sporting achievements this year include:

1st place in KS1 Multiskills
1st place in Year 5/6 Orienteering
2nd place in Rams Tag Rugby tournament (and award for most attractive rugby)
2nd place in Area Sports
3rd in B Team Football Cup hosted here

We have also participated in a variety of football competitions (mixed and girls) across different year groups, cross country and badminton.

In school we have also held in-house football, tag rugby and obstacle course competitions, as well as our re-vamped Sports Day.

With a total of 51 young people from the school competing in local inter-school competitions this year, and all but 6 young people competing in at least one intra-school activity, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfill criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to all the adults that have organised these teams, parents who have cheered us on and helped with transport, and in particular, Mrs Bangura who sorts out all of the admin that is needed to make these things happen. We look forward to applying once again in 2020!
